Humanitarian disaster
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza remains catastrophic. More than two million people are affected by severe shortages of clean water, food, medicine and other essential supplies. Many families have been displaced multiple times and are living in overcrowded shelters, damaged buildings or makeshift tents.
The health system is under extreme pressure. Hospitals and health centres are damaged, medical supplies are running out, and many people cannot get the care they urgently need. For people with injuries, infections, chronic diseases, pregnancy-related complications or mental health needs, delayed care can have life-threatening consequences.
What does Doctors of the World do in Gaza?
Doctors of the World has been providing medical and humanitarian aid in Gaza and the West Bank since 1995. Together with Palestinian health workers and local partners, our teams provide primary healthcare, mental health care and psychosocial support to people affected by violence and displacement.
We support health centres and mobile medical services, provide medicines and medical supplies, and help people who have limited or no access to healthcare. Our teams also support care for children, pregnant women, people with chronic conditions and families living in extremely difficult conditions.

Humanitarian access must be protected
Medical care cannot be provided safely while civilians, health workers and humanitarian staff remain under threat. Doctors of the World calls for safe, unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza and for the protection of civilians, medical staff, hospitals, schools and essential infrastructure.
Restrictions on humanitarian organisations make it even harder for people to receive the care, food, water and protection they need. Access to healthcare is a human right — also in times of war.
