Helpdesk

For patients:

Anyone in the Netherlands can contact our helpdesk. It does not matter what your situation is, whether you have residence papers or not, or whether you can pay for healthcare. We help you find the medical care you need.

For healthcare professionals:

Healthcare professionals can also contact us for advice. We can think along with you about referrals, practical steps, reimbursements, and what is possible in different situations.

What can we help you with?

For example:

• Finding a general practitioner (GP / family doctor)
• Finding a midwife
• Going to the hospital
• If you cannot pay your hospital bill
• Abortion
• Contraception
• Dental care (dentist)
• Mental healthcare
• Health insurance and other support schemes
• Questions about how the Dutch healthcare system works

We always look at what is possible in your situation and which steps you can take. We guide you through these steps and explain how healthcare works in the Netherlands.

What can we not do?

• We do not give medical advice through the helpdesk.
• We do not provide medical statements for people who have not received care from us (for example for a residence permit application).
• We cannot answer questions about healthcare for people who live outside the Netherlands. We also cannot give advice to people who want to come to the Netherlands for medical treatment.
• We do not provide emergency care. In a medical emergency, call 112.
• If it is not an emergency but you need urgent medical help, contact the GP out-of-hours service in your area. Search online for: “GP out-of-hours service + your city” to find the nearest location.
